Reysen Fan Scale

 

Instructions: This test is used to measure degree of fanship. The test uses general terms such as the term Òinterest.Ó Your interest is what ever you are a fan of. For example, if you love a sports team, that is your interest (Note: do not list your religion as your interest).

 

Write your interest (what you are a fan of) in the blank provided (e.g., a particular band, a sports team, a TV show, an actor, a movie, an author, a hobby).

Participants: N =150, 78.67% women, 19.91 yrs. old, SD = 3.24

Alpha: .87

Variance: 43.49%

 

Study 2

Participants: N = 180, 76.11% women, 20.96 yrs. old, SD = 4.6

Mean Score: 5.82 (SD = 1.71)

Alpha: .88

Variance: 46.6%

Correlations: Sport Spectator Identification Scale (r = .39, only participants who indicated sports as an interest were compared), Extraversion (r = .07, n.s.), Agreeableness (r = .13, n.s.), Neuroticism (r = -.08, n.s.), Openness (r = .15), Conscientiousness (r = .08, n.s.), Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale (r = .07, n.s.)
